CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

A Craft Class with Suzy- Join our Nurse, Suzy Maurer as she leads you during this craft class.  

Art Starts Here- Marilyn Smilow will be teaching a new class. She will lead you and your children through fun art projects for the budding artist.

Baby Play Group- Andrea will be facilitating this play group with activities to help stimulate your baby’s learning.  

Board Meeting- Get involved in these meetings; let your voice be heard. All parents are more than welcome to attend!  

Brain Development- Join this informational class to learn more about your infant’s brain development and to learn ways to stimulate his/her brain through experiences.  Class taught by our RN, Suzy Maurer.

Capstone Presentation- The nursing students from Nevada State College will be presenting their booklet of various nutrition topics which they compiled. All are welcome to attend.   

Explore and Learn- These are developmental classes put together by the great people from Early Intervention Services of Southern Nevada.  There will be specialists available to answer your developmental questions as well as to provide important information regarding your children’s development.

Family & Friends CPR- This class is for parents only. Come learn life-saving techniques or refresh your current skills. This is not for certification purposes. Our RN Suzy Maurer will be offering this class.  

Gym for You and Me!- Marcela Lopez has put together a class full of energy. This class is designed for those toddlers who are already walking. The purpose of the class is to concentrate on small and large muscle development as well as coordination and listening.  

Holistic Remedies for Common Childhood Illness’- Dr. Grimes will be speaking on holistic remedies for the most common childhood illness', ranging from colds, colic, ear infections and fever.

Homemade Baby Foods- Taught by Michelle Menor, come learn how to make the BEST baby food for your infant. Learn the basics about introducing solid foods.

Infant Massage I & II- You and your baby will learn massage together.  Learn time honored techniques that will help your baby prepare for movement, activity, and help the two of you communicate with each other.  Bring a towel or blanket which you don’t mind being soiled by the natural oil we will use for massage. This is a 2 series class; please plan on attending both classes. Taught by Joellyn Somberg, MBA, PT.

Let’s Make Music- Join Nataly as she leads you and your child through music and movement to their favorite songs.

Managing Stress- Carmen Valencia will discuss how to manage your daily stresses. This class will be in Spanish only.

Move and Groove- Marcela Lopez will guide your children in a variety of musical fun.

Nutrition for your Children- Food provides the energy and the nutrients that a baby or a child needs to stay healthy. Learn about essential and necessary foods for your children from birth to adolescence. Class taught by Dr. Valencia and will only be offered in Spanish.        

Over-Indulged Children Discussion Group- Learn to express your love for your child in ways that benefit his/her future development. Taught by Dianne Farkas, MS.

Parent Effectiveness Training - Come and learn how to communicate effectively with your children. A must attend class because of its informational content. Taught by Dianne Farkas, MS.

Sign Language (Baby & Toddler) - As your child’s spoken vocabulary grows; his/her sign vocabulary can grow, too.  Introducing and continuing sign language with your children provides exceptional stimulation for multiple areas of the brain. Taught by volunteer, Shannon Osborne.  For more information on sign language, visit her website: www.weecansign.com. Please note that Toddler Sign Language will be a fee of $5 per family.

Silly Dancin’- A mommy & me dance class; join your child to see how silly we can dance to fun music. Taught by Marcela Lopez.

Strategies for Parents I & II- These classes are geared towards parents that are interested in improving their relationship with their kids through simple techniques. Carmen Valencia will be teaching this class in Spanish. She is a psychologist from Mexico.

Toddler Play Time- Use our facility to socialize with other parents while your children have free play time.
